Goal: to devise a permanent solution for back problems whose origins lie in the workplace. Flexchair®/TBT(trunk balance trainer) was designed with VelDon®’s goal in sight, and is a professional testing and training concept based on the FlexChair®. The Flexchair®/TBT has one stable foot and is equipped with the necessary hard and software. The Flexchair®/TBT has become an integral testing and training concept for the trunk and other bodily coördination and stability, since 2005.
Flexchair®/TBT has been applied in practice by a growing group of paramedics, not only in the Netherlands but in other countries as well. The Flexchair®/TBT improves trunk coordination and stability by providing insight into the activity performed and correcting muscle activity in the pelvic and lower back regions. Professor Peter O’Sullivan and Professor Wim Dankaerts laid out the theoretical foundation for this principal in the 90s.
The Flexchair®/TBT has grown into an appreciated evidence based measurement and training tool in the professional sector.
Besides the Flexchair®/TBT, ten other applications have been designed, that also rely upon visual feedback. The cervical application is in high demand and as such has been fully developed. Exercises and tests are available through a practice-bound database upon request, and if possible connected to an EPD. Transparency and direct call ability of testing and training reports form the foundations for a modern and managed practice.
